While the Covid-19 pandemic has been difficult for everyone, in many ways, the Indigenous community has been hit especially hard. We’ve been reflecting both on the loss of our Elders to this virus and also being prevented from cherished community events. We want to share some of our favourite sounds that we hold close to our hearts, and we look forward to being at pow-wows, round dances, and potlatches with you again soon.
Pow wow makes us want to move our feet with joy.
To move to the heartbeat of the drum is to feel joy and healing. Covid-19 has all but halted performances by dancers and drummers, and we are really looking forward to seeing a jingle dress glimmer in the sunshine while munching a bannock burger. We’ve chosen one of our favourite Pow wow albums to keep you excited about gathering again.
The pow wow album that gets us every time!
We look forward to sharing food & laughs at a round dance again soon.
We are overjoyed by the ingenuity of Indigenous communities throughout this pandemic. While there is so much loss, there is also a shining light to be found in virtual round dances, cooking safe meals for Elders, and the continued sharing of Indigenous talent. We loved this feature by CBC’s The National on virtual round dances , and it made us want to reflect on our favourite memories and share with you one of our favourite albums from our collection.

We can’t wait to share live Indigenous music with our community again!
Until we can hug and laugh and share food again, we hope you’ll get some inspiration from some of our amazing archives of Indigenous music. Did you know that you can download the Indigenous Cloud app? Take your community with you wherever you go.
